Welcome to Go See the Eclipse. Our goal is for as many people as possible to go see the April 8, 2024 total solar eclipse as possible and view it safely and with understanding.
About Me:
I have a Master’s degree in Astronomy Education. I have been involved in astronomy education for over 50 years. I have traveled to see 6 total solar eclipses on 4 continents. I have led groups to see 3 of those eclipses. I have volunteered with the National Park Service leading stargazes for the public in Arizona, Utah, Colorado, Texas and other places. I have spoken to schools in preparation for the 2017 total solar eclipse. I have the webiste you are on, https://www.goseetheeclipse.net. I have written a book, “Go See the Eclipse: A Glimpse of God’s Glory” to help prepare people for this event. I have large quantities of eclipse glasses for sale, individually and in bulk.
Consulting
What Can I Do For You?
My goals are for as many people as possible to see (experience) this eclipse and see it safely and with understanding. I can do the following at your school, church, or other organization:
- I can give a presentation on eclipses in general and the April 8, 2024 eclipse in particular. This presentation will last approximately 1 hour. I would prefer a location with a projector and screen, if you have it. I will stay and answer questions for a while after.
- I can give a more in depth presentation to faculty and staff regarding preparation for the eclipse: activities for students and adults, aspects of the event to be aware of, crafts to make ahead of time to use during the eclipse, and more.
- I can consult with small groups of leaders who will be in charge of eclipse Day events, to discuss particular questions and issues local to you, like viewing locations and logistics on eclipse day.
- I can advise on suitability of viewing locations and logistics.
Fees:
For a one hour zoom call with up to 6 people – $100
For a one day consult, on site, 5 hours of consulting time, I charge $500. In addition, I need travel expenses from Sarasota, Florida, transportation while at your location, a motel room or other accommodation, and meals. If multiple schools can schedule me on consecutive days, the travel expense can be shared.
